Powerful French flair

The Ds range is the performance and styling oriented offshoot of the Citroën brand, unfortunately they didn't get an over warm reception here in South Africa and as such these cars are something of a rarity here in Mzansi. If you happen to have one of these French rockets and find that things are not working the way they should, it may be time for a new car battery.

Replacing te battery can be a tad intimidating on these euro models but with just a few tools and the thirst to learn DIY maintenance, we can show you how it's done.

You will need:

Plastic Rivet Removal tool
10mm socket + extension and driver

Let's get it done

1. Use the rivet tool to remove the plastic retaining rivet

2. Remove the ram air intake

3. Undo the positive terminal

4. Unclip and remove the ECU from the side of the battery box

5. Use the 10mm to remove the positive cable from the fuse box and then move to the side

6. Remove the plastic battery cover

7. Use the 10mm to undo and remove the negative terminal

8. Use the 10mm and extension to remove the battery hold down bracket

9. Remove battery

10. Replace battery and assemble everything in reverse order.
