While not a hybrid in the same way as some of the vehicles on this list, the Grand Vitara Hybrid features a 48-volt system that aids fuel economy and fills in where the internal combustion engine requires assistance.

There's an updated Honda Fit HEV in the local market, which is undoubtedly a contender for the title of SA's most fuel-efficient car, with a claimed fuel consumption figure of just 3.7 L/100km!
4. Haval Jolion HEV- from R549 950
The Jolion HEV is certainly a different approach to hybrid driving, with an integrating powertrain that makes this family SUV capable of sipping fuel while providing respectable performance.
