It has invested heavily in research and development, and its vehicles are sold in many global markets. But as with all new cars, sometimes it's only after a few months of ownership that potential issues rear their ugly heads.

The Tank 500: A thoroughly modern SUV
The Tank 500 is equipped with the latest and greatest in modern technology, including advanced safety features and a sophisticated infotainment system. It also has nice-to-haves like heated, ventilated, and massaging seats and plenty of other high-tech equipment. While this enhances the ownership experience, it also introduces potential points of failure.

Limited long-term data
As a newer model, there's limited long-term data on the Tank 500's reliability. However, early owner reviews have generally praised its performance, comfort, and features. However, the Tank 500 HEV, the only (petrol-electric hybrid) Tank 500 model available in SA, is quite thirsty. Some owners report 13 to 20 litres per 100 km, even though the manufacturer says 8!

GWM offers a comprehensive warranty package for the Tank 500, demonstrating the brand's confidence in its reliability.
- Warranty: 7 years or 200,000 km warranty, plus an 8-year or 150,000 km high-voltage battery pack warranty
- Service plan: 5 years or 75,000 km service plan, with a service interval distance of 15,000 km
- Roadside assistance: 7 years or unlimited km roadside assistance plan.

- Consult with a professional: Seek expert advice to identify potential issues. Contact workshop owners who regularly service GWM cars, specifically the more technologically advanced ones.
