What is a Range Rover House?

'Range Rover House' is an exclusive, immersive experience designed to showcase the luxury and innovation of the Land Rover brand. During these events, held in various prestigious locations worldwide, a select group of individuals that include influencers, media members and Jaguar Land Rover customers are invited to engage with the brand in a unique environment that blends automotive excellence with anything from architecture to art, fine dining, design, and culture; as long as it's a feast for the senses! And of course, esteemed guests can also test drive, purchase, and then style their chosen new Land Rover vehicle to their heart's content - who wants to visit a showroom these days?

Despite being hypermodern, this property reflects the water and sky, helping it blend in with its magnificent natural surroundings.

The latest property to be transformed into Africa's only Land Rover house is the R160-million architectural marvel in Cape Town's prestigious Bishopscourt. It is owned by a Range Rover-loving British national, a young CEO and a public figure who visits this residence when needing a well-deserved break from the pressures of leadership and tours across the globe, giving inspirational speeches.

As with the other Range Rover houses, this stunning house provides guests with various experiences, the main theme being 'Sanctuary'. Cape Town's Range Rover House event must be one of the most impressive, with water tastings presented by South Africa's only water sommelier, coffee tasting experiences, sensory hand massages, the finest cuisine created by some of SA's top chefs, a fragrance workshop with Chanel to find your perfect fragrance, and the opportunity to create and configure the Land Rover of your dreams under the guidance of a Land Rover designer and a bespoke client liaison.

It doesn't get much more opulent than this.

A sumptuous beef fillet paired with the finest South African wines was served for lunch. While we indulged, we gazed upon the magnificent view, including the show-stopping Range Rover SV Onyx, one of only seven models in Africa, priced at a cool R5.8 million.

A precious gem of a Range Rover

Izak Louw, Communications Manager at JLR South Africa & sub-Sahara Africa, says they started working on the Range Rover Onyx project in March 2023. As the name suggests, the inspiration for this specific Range Rover was the exclusivity and rarity of this precious stone, prized for its unique translucency, which can range from opaque to slightly transparent.

The paintwork on this elegant vehicle also has the uncanny ability to change colour depending on how the light falls on it. There are a myriad of bespoke features and high-end design details. The rear seats in this model comprise only two luxury chairs, so a chauffeur can do most of the driving while the posh passengers stretch out in the back.
