South Africans do like themselves a premium SUV, and one of the choices in the luxury price range is the Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV. But now, the British automaker has created a special Celestial Collection that is inspired by ancient mythology and the cosmos. Just a quick glance, and you will see why these units will stand out from the crowd.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV Performance

Under the bonnet of the Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV is a 4.4-litre turbocharged V8 engine that produces 467 kW and 750 Nm of torque. Initiate the Dynamic Launch Mode, and the driver will have access to 800 Nm for a few seconds. In this mode the manufacturer claims the SV can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 290 km/h. The power is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. At the same time, a mild-hybrid system that produces the temporary additional 50 Nm in Dynamic Launch Mode will also assist in reducing consumption and emissions during normal driving conditions.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV Gaea Curation

If you know your Greek mythology, you would know that Gaea represents the Earth or, rather, where life started. As such, this derivative gets a Green Terre Matte exterior paint with contrasting Narvik Black roof and mirrors, as well as a moniker that takes shape as a wave against land. At the rear, you will notice the tailpipes finished in Satin Forged Carbon Fibre, while behind the wheels, there are Carbon Bronze ceramic brake calipers.

Customers can choose between two interior colour themes, either the Caraway Windsor leather with Kvadrat steel-cut backboards with Natural Brown Silver Birch wooden finishers and a tonal stitch or the leather-free Ebony and Cinder Grey with a matching steering wheel and Natural Black-Silver Birch wooden finishers.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV Theia Curation

Continuing on the mythological theme is the Theia edition, which represents Titaness, the daughter of Uranus and Gaea. The theme follows "sight and shimmering light". On the exterior, you can expect a warm-toned Ilmenite Grey Satin paint finish with a hint of metallic flake which is contrasted by the 23-inch forged wheels finished in a champagne gold and black carbon ceramic brake calipers.

The interior also follows the theme with a Grand Black gloss symbol on the headrests and console. The Ebony and Ecru Windsor leather interior feature a Kvadrat steel-cut backboard but can also be had with a more dramatic Ebony and Pimento Windsor Leather with additional Pimento contrast binding on the carpet mats. There is also a satin forged carbon fibre finisher in the centre console.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV Io Curation

If you are astronomically inclined, you will know that Io is the most volcanically active body in the solar system. This theme is carried through to the exterior of this edition's bright orange exterior colour. To contrast this and continue on the theme, the vehicle’s gloss finish incorporates a Cyllene Gloss finish that changes depending on the light hitting the surface and is reminiscent of Io’s surface. On the sides, there are 23-inch twill carbon fibre gloss wheels with silver carbon ceramic brake calipers behind them, while the bonnet also incorporates an exposed carbon fibre twill gloss finish. At the rear, there are gloss twill carbon fibre tailpipes and carbon script badging.

On the interior, there is the option of Ebony and Lunar Windsor leather, with 3D knit seats, and Satin Twill carbon fibre seat backboards and seat collar bezels. Or alternatively, there is Ebony and Rosewood configuration with Rosewood leather across the seats, centre console and door armrests, complemented with a Satin Twill Carbon Fibre finisher.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV Vega Curation

Continuing on the astronomy theme is the Vega Curation, which represents the bright star from the Lyra constellation. Like the star, the Range Rover Sport SV Vega comes finished in an exterior blue gloss colour called Verrier Blue, named after French astronomer Urban La Verrier, who mathematically predicted the location of Neptune. The exterior also features the Carbon Fibre Twill Gloss bonnet, and this finish is carried through to the script badging, tailpipes and 23-inch wheels. Behind those wheels, there are Nano Yellow carbon ceramic brake calipers.

Like with the other derivatives, clients have two interior themes available to them. They can either have the light Ebony and Perlino leather seats with the symbol on the headrests and a Natural Cream Ash Burr finisher on the cupholders, or they can select the leather-free Raven Blue and Ebony seats with a tonal stitch and Raven Blue binding on the carpet mats. There is also a darker Natural Black Birch finisher. Both colour themes feature Ebony Kvadrat steel-cut backboards on the seats.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV Sol Curation

Sol, more commonly known as the Sun, is represented here by a distinctive Aurora Yellow gloss exterior colour. The greenish-yellow colour also hints at the Aurora Borealis phenomenon. The bright colour is contrasted by Narvik Gloss black roof and mirrors and Satin Forged Carbon exterior finishers and tailpipes. In each corner, there are 23-inch Forged Black wheels, and behind them are Blue Nebula carbon ceramic brake calipers.

Like the other configurations, customers can select between two interior themes, the first executed as Navy Windsor leather with Light Cloud contrast stitching and matching carpet mats. The second features a leather-free Ebony interior with contrast Nano-Yellow stitching and satin forged carbon fibre seat backboards and finisher.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV Celestial Collection availability

As alluded to earlier, the SV Celestial Collection is a limited edition range, and this is assured by a limited allocation of only five units for South Africa. Each of these units will be finished in one of these unique themes, which means that each potential owner should, at least locally, own a one-of-a-kind unit.
