How popular is the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro?

Chinese firm Chery has hit back hard with a string of quality products and very agreeable price point. We're seeing a lot of Tiggo 4 Pros on the road but how popular if the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro?

Chery is only one of several Chinese firms to have broken successfully into the market in the last few years. Now, before you correct me, Chery did indeed have a local presence several years ago but the offerings were not up to scratch, resulting in poor sales figures. This all changed with the brand's reintroduction in 2021 with the introduction of the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro. They've since introduced two more models, the Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro and we can look forward to several more Chery products including offering from their JAECO and OMODA sub-brands.

The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro is their current flagship model in South Africa and is presented with a choice of two engines. A 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 145 kW and 290 Nm is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and sends power to the front wheels. You also have the option of a 2.0-litre TDGI turbocharged petrol engine that yields 187 kW and 390 Nm torque, this too sending power through a 7-speed DCT to the front wheels. This 2.0-litre unit is found in the Tiggo 8 Pro MAX.

The Tiggo 8 Pro is a competent 7-seater with generous space and swathes of luxury appointments to rival the best in the game and it manages to do this without breaking the bank. Impressive safety features and high-end tech ensure that customers don't feel short-changed in the process.

Customers of new Chery Tiggo 8 Pros enjoy the security that comes with the 10-year/1 000 000 km mechanical warranty, bolstering their confidence in the brand.

Cherry Tiggo 8 Pro Popularity

Chery has enjoyed much success over the past year and the sales figure can attest to that. This relative newcomer is steadily climbing up the ranks and is starting to see vehicles in generous numbers. Much of this is easily attributed to the perceived value for money, a strong marketing campaign and attractive styling that is combined with a high-end feel.

In the month of April 2023, Chery sold a total of 1 179 new vehicles. Of this, 708 were Tiggo 4 Pros and 312 were Chery Tiggo 7 Pros. The Tiggo 8 Pro registered a total volume of 159 units across the country, showing it to be the third most popular Chery model in the lineup.

Chery was also the 11th most successful purveyor of new vehicles in the month of April, slotting in just behind their Chinese rivals, Haval.
