The Audi S8 is a dream car for many, and with a burly, but smooth-as-butter turbocharged V8 engine, it's hard not to fall in love. The S8 quattro has 420kW and 800 Nm's worth of torque on tap and will catapult the driver from 0-100 km/h in only 3.8 seconds, according to Audi. With a smorgasbord of driving and assistance settings and systems, it doesn't get much more sophisticated than this.

The new Audi S8 combines progressive luxury with dynamic athleticism while honing its reputation as the benchmark for Vorsprung durch Technik with innovative suspension systems. Its 4.0 TFSI engine – a biturbo eight-cylinder unit – produces 420 kW (571 hp) and an opulent 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. It is combined with MHEV technology for the perfect symbiosis of efficiency and comfort with exhilarating performance. The predictive active suspension, dynamic-all-wheel steering and quattro drive with sport differential provide for outstanding vehicle dynamics straight from the factory. The new Audi S8 uses specific design elements to express the sporty elegance of the sophisticated luxury sedan with pinpoint precision. - Audi

The S8 quattro is currently the only S8 in the line-up, and retails for a cool R2 537 500 (at the time this article was written).

How much does it cost per month?

Well, that depends on a variety of factors, such as how much deposit you're putting down, if there will be a balloon payment and your own credit score which, in turn, will influence the interest rate. You should use our car finance calculator and tailor it to your specific needs. Once you click on the above-mentioned link, you'll see this:

For the purpose of this exercise, we omitted the deposit, a trade-in value, and left the residual box blank, and made the calculation over 72 months at a 13% interest rate. The estimated monthly repayment came to a whopping R50 938 per month. Ouch!

However, if you are putting down a large deposit or trading in some or other exotic (ie. expensive) car, then things start to look considerably better. See below:

At the end of the day, only you will know how much your current set of wheels is worth, and how much you can afford, given your unique set of circumstances. We encourage you to play around with our car finance calculator to find out how much a new S8 will cost you on a month-to-month basis.
