We recently went adventuring in the Karoo in an Ignis, and were pleasantly surprised by its talents for tackling the rougher stuff, making it ideal for rural areas too, not just the city and suburbs. Is the Suzuki Ignis a good family car?
Small families will appreciate everything the Ignis has to offer, but if you need to fit a large baby stroller inside the boot, you may find the cargo area a little small. The larger (yet affordable) Suzuki Baleno will be a better bet. Also consider the Suzuki Vitara Brezza SUV, but opt for a used model to get the best price.
Is there a Suzuki Ignis hybrid model?
Not at the moment, and we don't foresee one coming to SA anytime soon, either.

What’s it like to drive?

What a pleasure piloting the cheeky Ignis around the city! It’s stable but light-footed, nimble yet also planted, plus you can almost park it with your eyes closed, thanks to its compact dimensions and rear sensors. Weighing in at a waif-like 850 kilograms, the 61 kW /113 Nm 1.2-litre engine makes the Ignis sufficiently swift, and the tiny powertrain’s audacious growl adds even more character. Steering wise, the feel and feedback is quite the opposite of what I expected, being on the heavier and more meaty side (it’s electrically assisted). It didn’t bother me at all when flitting through traffic, and manoeuvring in and out of narrow parking spots... - Ané Theron, AutoTrader

What does it look like?
Style
The Ignis is cute, trendy, and fashionable, and stays true to its Mini-SUV personality, but I wouldn't say it's a 'girl's car.' The Ignis appeared on the horizon in 2017 and has since enjoyed an upgrade and facelift, but is ageing very well.
As before, the GLX-models feature wrap-around daytime running lights with projector style LED headlamps. GLX models also have added roof rails and flared wheel arch extensions to help it stand out, especially since the Ignis has a standard ground clearance of 180 mm. - Suzuki SA

The Ignis enjoys solid build quality and a fresh and functional layout. Depending on your budget, you can also choose a variety of optional interior colours and finishes, as well as practical accessories. It's surprisingly spacious on the back seat.
