5 extras you should fit on a new Porsche Cayenne

We sat with the Porsche Configurator to see what 5 extras are critical must-haves when deciding what equipment to include with your new Porsche Cayenne order.

Automotive News

I'll admit, I had quite a bit of fun piecing this article together for you. I could easily have given you three times as many options and extras that I think you should spec a new Porsche Cayenne with but instead, I've narrowed down to my five favourites that I feel are a must-have.

The new Cayenne has been with us for about 18-months now and it still proves to be a popular choice for those that demand quality and practicality, wrapped in a sporty SUV package. It's a no-compromise affair and we simply love it. We sat down with the Porsche Configurator and went to town with it!

Here are 5 extras you should fit to a new Porsche Cayenne.

1. Wheels

Wheels can make or break a car - they're the second biggest aesthetic modification that can be done, right behind the paint you choose. The choice of wheels ranges from 18-inch all the way through to 22-inch behemoths but my favourite has to be the 21-inch Exclusive Design in Jet Black Metallic with polished faces and the Porsche crest.

2. Sport seats

Seats are the one component of the car that you have the most contact with. It's for this reason that they need to be the right shape, design and be trimmed in the right material. I've chosen the Sport seats with integral headrests and unique seam pattern. These heated seats have additional bolstering for extra support and are 18-way adjustable to ensure just the right shape and seating position. They're also heated, which is a bonus!

3. Carbon Design Package

I'm a sucker for a high contrast theme and carbon fibre just reminds me of racing. By selecting the Carbon Design Package you get a body-coloured front apron with black air intakes and C-blades finished in carbon fibre. It also adds side skirts, arch extensions, a roof spoiler in part-gloss black and a body-coloured rear apron with a carbon-finish diffuser. Perfect on a white or silver Cayenne.

4. Adaptive Air Suspension

If there's one thing that a Porsche does well, it's handle. Point it toward the twisties and go wild! You can beef this prowess up even further by adding in the Adaptive Air Suspension that has six ride-height settings and features air-spring struts with a self-levelling function. It includes PASM which is the Porsche Active Suspension Management that continuously adjusts the damper rate to give you the best combination of grip and comfort.

5. Adaptive Cruise Control

You don't buy a Cayenne and not use it on the open road, that would be a crime. For these open road excursions, you'll want the Adaptive Cruise Control function. This not only adjusts your speed according to the vehicle in front of you through the use of radar technology but includes an emergency stop function. It's also bundled with Lane Keep Assist and a Speed Limit Indicator.
