Warranty and Service
First launched in early 2021, the Urban Cruiser became one of the best-selling Toyota models in short time. The new Urban Cruiser is sold with a 3-year / 100 000km warranty and a four service / 60 000km service plan, while the first generation had the same 3-year / 100 000km but a three service / 45 000km service plan, which should by now have expired or be on the verge of expiring. This means that owners of first gen Urban Cruisers will soon be responsible for their service costs, but what kind of expenses will they be looking at?

Cost of Ownership
Toyota quotes between R4 000 and R4 500 for a minor service (approximately) and roughly R7 500 to R8 800 for the major services at 120 000 km. It will be worth checking with your local Toyota dealership as the franchise nature of the dealerships will result in slightly different pricing.
Another factor to consider is fuel costs. The first-generation Urban Cruiser has a fuel tank capacity of 48l and with real-world consumption figures of 6.5L/100km and a cost of R22.50 a liter you should return around 700km on a tank at a cost of R1080.
Verdict
When other marques are taken into consideration, the maintenance costs of the Toyota Urban Cruiser are in line with the rest of the market inn many cases are cheaper than its competitors. We highly recommend the urban Cruiser if you are in the market for a small family crossover.
