Is the Audi R8 a good car?

The Audi R8 is a special car indeed, it seamlessly melds high-end performance with everyday functionality and delivers a dynamic driving experience that few can compare too. Borrowing many of its underpinnings from sister company, Lamborghini, it delivers a drive that is very difficult to replicate with a comfortable drive and mind bending performance.

Who is the Audi R8 a good car for?

The Audi R8 is a good car for experienced drivers that are seeking a dynamic driving experience, a supercar that can be used everyday.

Is the Audi R8 a good first car?

It is not recommended that the Audi be driven by inexperienced drivers. It is deceptively quick and although it is very safe it may not be the best car for a newbie driver to pilot.

Is the Audi R8 a good family car?

It may be an everyday supercar but with its two seat configuration it will be no good for carting around groceries or doing the school run.

Is there a Hybrid Audi R8?

The never-ending push to electrification will be the eventual end of R8, there is currently no hybrid nor are there plans for a hybrid version.

What’s it like to drive?

Reviewers opinion

Inside its quite unassuming, its civil , its quiet, its no less difficult to drive than an S8, thats why its called the everyday supercar, that is until you push this button, everything gets dialled up to 11, the leash comes off and thats when the fun starts!

Interior

What is the Audi R8 like inside?

The R8 may be a supercar but if you are looking any luxuries that aren't directly attributable to the driving experience you will need to look elsewhere. The R8 is geared towards a dynamic driving experience and as such there are almost no frills to be found inside the cabin.

Style

There is very little in the way of luxury fitment with an an almost bare bones aesthetic. Carbon fibre inlays and details can be found around the bold switch gear as well as copious amounts of Alcantara and leather trim. Aluminium trim finishes of many of the details  letting you know this is a purposeful driving machine.

Tech features

  • R8-specific sport seats
  • Stainless steel pedals and footrest
  • MMI navigation plus
  • 12.3-inch diagonal display
  • additional button that allows you to directly control the specially adjusted performance programs
