The BMW X6 is based on the X5 platform and, as a result, retains much of the off-road and performance characteristics of its SUV sibling. However, the X6 SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) is very different in design, especially from the A-pillar backwards. The roofline of the X6 slopes down towards a dramatically redesigned rear end.
While this design does encroach somewhat on the headroom of the rear occupants and boot capacity, it does offer customers the opportunity to own a vehicle that should tackle rough roads with relative ease while presenting itself as a more sporty vehicle with its sleek styling.
The derivatives of the X6 range not only offer a variety of trim levels but also provide customers with different engine options ranging from the entry-level 3.0-litre, turbocharged, 6-cylinder diesel in the xDrive30d to a mighty 4.4-litre, turbocharged, V8 petrol engine as found in the BMW X6 M competition.
