Is the BMW X6 a good car?
The BMW X6 is based on the X5 model, however, offers a coupe-like roofline and revised exterior styling for a more dramatic look. As it shares its underpinnings with the X5, the X6 is a very good and capable vehicle but maybe not as practical as the X5 in terms of space.
Who is the BMW X6 a good car for?
The BMW X6 is a good car for well-established and successful individuals looking to make a statement with their vehicle. Sure the X6 will perform well on and even off-road but the biggest reason for choosing the X6 over the X5 is definitely the design.
Is the BMW X6 a good first car?
While the BMW X6 offers plenty of driver assistant systems and is a very safe vehicle, it also has quite large proportions and in the case of the X6 M50 and X6 M Competition derivatives is quite powerful. While I am sure there are those that wouldn't mind the X6 as their first vehicle, it is not the most obvious choice to start your vehicle ownership journey. However, should the price not keep you away, I am sure it won't disappoint a new driver that understands and respects a vehicle of this stature.
Is the BMW X6 a good family car?
Although the roofline of the X6 range resembles that of a coupe, it still retains four doors and five seats for its occupants. If you have younger children or even infants, the X6 range will offer ample room in the interior. In addition to this, it also has highly rated safety systems that will keep you and your family safe during a collision. However, if you have some tall teenagers with a lot of luggage that needs to go into the rear, the sloping roofline will make it quite cramped and in this case, the X5 should suit your needs better.
Is there a Hybrid BMW X6?
Although at this stage there is not a hybrid or plug-in hybrid model of the X6 as of yet, the 30d and 40i variants do employ a mild hybrid system. The configuration takes shape as an 8 kW electric motor that supports the combustion engine during acceleration and bolsters the speed and comfort of the automatic start/stop system. This reduces fuel consumption and emissions while giving the vehicle some extra dynamics while driving.

Reviewers opinion
"We spend some time with the latest version of the world's most popular SAC, the BMW X6 M in Competition format. It's unapologetically brutal yet luxurious at the same time. The latest version is more refined but still fights Sir Isaac Newton every step of the way."
- Chad Luckhoff, AutoTrader

What is the BMW X6 like inside?
There is no argument that the BMW X6 has a beautiful and well put-together interior. On the entry-level xDrive30d and xDrive40i variants, the interior offers plush seats with premium trim surfaces and soft-touch areas all over the cabin. The sportier derivatives see more aggressive textures, trim pieces and colours incorporated for a more dramatic finish while retaining the comfort associated with BMW's SUV and SAC vehicles.
Style
As mentioned earlier, the BMW X6 shares much of its underpinnings with the X5 model range with most of the difference between the two models being the exterior design. While the X5 retains its more square and utilitarian design to create as much headroom and boot space as possible, the X6 sacrifices some of that to incorporate a coupe-like roofline. This more flowing roofline creates a more sporty and premium look and is aerodynamically more efficient. In short, while the X6 offers similar on- and off-road capabilities as the X5 it's based on, it bolsters the package with styling that makes a statement that resonates with the fashion-conscious.
