The Atos is the cheapest Hyundai you can buy
The Atos made a major comeback at its re-launch in 2020 and was immensely well received by motoring media for its extensive spec sheet and solid build quality, as well as its fun-to-drive dynamics. It's low on fuel and equipped with all the tech (think touchscreen and Apple CarPlay) that younger drivers deem necessary. Safety equipment includes ABS brakes, two airbags, and ISOFIX child seat anchorage points on the outer rear seats.
The engine in the Atos is a four-cylinder, 1.1-litre unit, which is sufficient, considering the size and weight of the Atos. You're not going to break any land-speed records with a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 14 seconds, but good fuel economy is more important, right? Our reviewer of the Atos was highly impressed with the engine's frugal sipping abilities of around 4.9 - 5.2 litres per 100 km. In our current economic climate, anything under 6 is worth getting excited about.

If you spend just a little more, you can buy a Hyundai Grand i10
Those who need a slightly bigger boot, more features, and more legroom on the second row, should certainly look into the Hyundai Grand i10 as well. Its recent facelift has transformed it into a handsome little car that is perfectly suited to small families. The entry-level Grand i10 is only a 1.0-litre, though - something to bear in mind if you're going to have four or five passengers and their belongings onboard often.
