Peugeot 208 - 3/5
The Peugeot 208 is appointed with the I-cockpit that features a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system available with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The touchscreen intuitively displays all comfort controls such as radio, air conditioning etc., and offers natural control of all the vehicle's information and equipment.
It's been said that some of the primary controls can be difficult to adjust on the move. The system also features only a few sub-menus with fancy graphics that take their time to appear. The infotainment system fitted in the VW Polo is more intuitive to use.
Ford Fiesta - 3.5/5
The 2019 Ford Fiesta is fitted with the latest version of the SYNC system, SYNC3. It features a slightly larger screen the Peugeot 208 - SYNC3 boasts an 8.0-inch touchscreen. Two rotary dials sit under the screen which are for controlling the power, volume and tuning functions.
The menu layout is said to be "more streamlined and logical than earlier versions" of the SYNC system, while the screen now supports multi-touch and pinch-to-zoom capabilities.
The Fiesta no longer features CD functionality, however, you can expect Bluetooth, USB and AUX input connectivity options along with voice control. The SYNC3 system has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Volkswagen Polo - 4/5
Now in its sixth generation, VW's Polo is fitted with more tech than ever before. The Composition Media unit, standard on the Highline model, features a 6-speaker setup, 8.0-inch colour touchscreen, two USB ports, an SD card reader, a glovebox mounted single-CD player, AM/FM radio and has Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto compatibility. There's also Bluetooth connectivity for phone or music streaming along with voice activation and -control for the media system.
Comfortline and Trendline models are fitted with a smaller 6.5-inch Composition Colour system as standard.
Chad Luckhoff described the system as user-friendly and intuitive. The menu has a tile layout and icons can be easily identified. Buttons on the side allow you quick access to main functions such as the radio, media and your phone.
