Design

The T9's exterior design is bold, with the brand having design centres in Italy and Japan. The large chrome grille, LED daytime running lights, xenon headlamps, and fog lamps give the product a unique exterior look. Other generic touches include black wheel arches, running boards, a style bar and 18-inch alloy wheels.

 Interior

Inside, a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system dominates the aesthetics, with the Ranger-esque portrait-mounted screen covering smartphone connectivity, climate control, and a variety of convenience features, providing a comfortable and connected driving experience. The models also include six airbags, and various advanced safety systems ensure the safety of both drivers and passengers.

Drivetrain

The T9 range features a new engine lineup from JAC Motors, starting with the 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine. Future models include a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and BEV and PHEV options planned for 2024. The T9's 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine boasts 125 kW and 410 Nm. The engine is paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission with multiple driving modes. Fuel consumption for the models is claimed at 7.8 L/100km, while the T9 offers a payload of 1 000 kg and a braked towing capacity of 3 500kg.

Off-road capability

The 4x4-equipped models have an electronically-controlled part-time four-wheel-drive system, low-speed four-wheel drive, a locking rear differential and features like Hill Descent Control. Combined with a 27-degree approach angle, a 23-degree departure angle, and 210mm of ground clearance, these specifications should make the model reasonably capable.

Brand representation

The JAC brand has been in SA for around six years and offers some 70 locations in Southern Africa.
