Warning lights

Suzuki introduced the brand-new Celerio range in 2022; however, the previous generation model became available in 2015 and was refreshed in 2018. Now, if you have found yourself in the rare situation of finding an illuminated warning light in the instrument cluster, here is a quick guide on what those warning lights mean.

Here’s a breakdown of the warning lights that appear on a Suzuki Celerio 1.0 GL MT

1. Electric Power Steering Light

If this light remains on after starting or comes on while driving, it indicates a problem with the power steering system. You will still be able to steer, however, steering will feel heavier.

2. High Engine Coolant Temperature Warning

Should this light flicker while you are driving, it means the engine is running hot. Avoid driving conditions that will lead to actual overheating. If the light is on but not blinking, the engine is overheating, and you should stop immediately.

3. Open Door Warning Light

This light indicates an open passenger door(s) or the tailgate. If the vehicle moves, this warning light will be accompanied by a sound.

4. Brake System Warning Light

If its light is illuminated, the parking brake is likely still engaged. If the parking brake has been released but the light is still on, there is a problem with the braking system, such as low brake fluid.

5. Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Warning Light

If this light appears in the instrument cluster, the ABS may have a problem. If it comes on simultaneously with the Brake System Warning Light, then there may be something wrong with both the rear brake force control function and the anti-lock function of the ABS.

6. Malfunction Indicator Light

If this light comes on, the emission control system may be damaged, or something is wrong with the Auto Gear Shift system. Continuing to drive with this light on can cause permanent damage to the vehicle’s emission control system and affect fuel economy and driveability.

7. Charging Light

This light will illuminate when there is a problem with the battery charging system. It should be taken for immediate inspection.

8. Immobiliser System Light

This light will come on momentarily when the ignition is switched on. If it blinks when switched on, the engine will not start, as there may be something wrong with your key or the immobiliser system.

9. Airbag light

This light will only come on if there is a problem with the airbag or seat belt pre-tensioner systems. If it doesn’t come on or blink briefly when the car starts, check the systems.

10. Oil Pressure Light

If your Celerio has insufficient oil pressure, this light will illuminate. If the light comes on while driving, pull over to the side of the road as soon as you can and stop the engine. Check your oil levels and add oil if needed. If there is enough oil, your lubrication system must be inspected.

11. Fuel Gauge with tachometer

The fuel light will only come on if you run low on petrol. If you have just filled the tank and it remains on, drive for a few kilometres, and the system should register fuel on board. If the light remains on, check your fuel float sensor.
