How to replace a lightbulb on a Suzuki Celerio
Uncomplicated cars make for easier (and cheaper) maintenance, especially when you’re in a hurry or when your budget is extra-tight. If you have a Suzuki Celerio and need to replace one of its headlamp bulbs, you can easily perform this operation at home, and without using any tools at all. This step-by-step guide shows you how.
It might be a modern city car, but the Suzuki Celerio’s basic hardware is still pretty basic and well-proven. In fact, if you’re keen on learning how to maintain your own car, a Celerio is a very good starting point: spare parts are affordable, and most of its maintenance jobs are quite easy.
Changing a headlamp globe is one such simple operation: even an inexperienced, aspiring DIY-er can easily perform this task in less than 5 minutes, saving a trip to the dealership for real work. Just follow these simple steps, and you’ll light up the dark again in no time at all.

Changing the light bulb – step-by-step
1. It’s easy to spot the headlamp connector with the bonnet open – it’s a black, squared-off block of plastic, located on the rear of the headlamp cluster, in the centre of a rubber boot (dust cover), circled in yellow in the picture below.
2. With a firm grip and a bit of wiggling, the plastic connector will slide off the headlamp bulb terminal’s three connection pins. Move the connector aside when it’s disconnected, to clear some room for your fingers for the following operations.

3. Remove the dust cover, gently tugging it away from the headlamp housing by one of its integrated tabs and sliding it off the headlamp housing. Once removed, set the dust cover aside in a secure place. Note that the rubber dust cover seats between two plastic housings – an important thing to remember when it’s time for re-assembly.
4. The headlamp bulb assembly is now open in front of you, and the only thing standing between you and pulling out that bulb is a little spring clip (indicated by the yellow arrow below).
Working on the protruding part of the clip, first push it towards the headlamp housing and then lift it to the top. That’s the motion needed to unhook the bulb locating clip – it might take you a few tries to get it right, especially if you’ve never done this before...
5. With the spring clip pivoted out of the way, it’s time to remove the bulb itself. Take note of the three alignment tabs on the headlamp bulb’s base (two of which are circled in red in the image below), because the replacement globe will have to go in with the same orientation.
6. Slide the old bulb towards the rear of the car (in the direction of the yellow arrow in the picture above) until its glass tip is clear of the housing, and then insert the new bulb in the same orientation. Important: Don’t touch the glass section of the new headlight bulb! (Your fingers will leave an oily residue on the glass, which will lead to premature bulb failure).
7. Re-assemble in the reverse order. First hook the spring clip securely in position: if it seems like it doesn’t fit neatly, the chances are that the new globe is slightly misaligned, so wiggle the new globe around until it seats securely on the three metal tabs.

8. Once you’ve hooked in the spring clip, it’s time to re-fit the dust cover and re-connect the electrical connector. Once everything is back in place and connected, test both low- and high beams by operating the vehicle’s headlight switch(es).
