How to replace the car battery on a Renault Duster

The Renault Duster is a very popular choice for folks taking that next step up into mid size SUV ownership. If you end up with one of the previous generation models you may find a new battery being needed in your future, but never fear we can be help with our step by step tutorial.

If you are the proud owner of Renault Duster then its safe to assume you're the kind of person that takes on anything the world can throw at you. Whether it's a steep gravel hill or a mall parking lot, you'll tackle anything head-on. An old run down battery won't stop you either and this is just another task you can tackle.

Changing the battery on your Duster is not too difficult a task and you can get this done in just a few minutes with minimal tools

 

You will need:

 

  • New replacement battery for your model (correct amperage)
  • 10mm spanner, 13mm socket and wrench

 

Let's get started!

 

1. Begin by opening the bonnet

 

2. Remove the negative terminal using the 10mm spanner.

 

3. Remove the positive cable using the appropriate size wrench. Leave the terminal base attached to the battery.

 

4. Use 13mm socket and wrench, remove the hold-down bolt and clamp at the base of the battery

 

5. Remove the terminal from the old battery and transfer to the new battery.

 

6. Install the new battery.

 

7. Install clamp and terminals in reverse order.

 

8. Start the car to make sure everything is working correctly.
