What is the difference between a Ford Territory and a Ford Territory Dark Edition?
The Ford Territory is a sleek, mid-sized SUV designed for modern families. In 2025, the range received a shakeup with the addition of a new Dark Edition. Here are all the differences in the current model lineup
The Ford Territory Dark Edition, launched mid-2025, is the flagship, limited-run model of the Territory range. It replaces the outgoing Titanium model for now, but if you are looking at acquiring the top spec model on teh used market, this is what the real differences are.

Exterior Styling
The Dark Edition's primary goal is to replace chrome and silver elements with high-gloss and satin black finishes.
Grille & Accents: Features a satin black front grille, high-gloss black skid plates (front and rear), and black fog lamp surrounds.
Wheels: Upgrades to 19-inch Ebony black alloy wheels; the base Ambiente and Trend models typically use 18-inch wheels.
Roof & Details: The roof, roof rails, mirror caps, window trims, and even the "Territory" lettering on the tailgate are finished in black.
Colour Palette: It is available in a more restricted colour range, including Star White, Panther Black, Lustrous Grey, and Ruby Red.
Interior Upgrades
The cabin is designed to feel more premium and follows a "Wildtrak-inspired" theme.
Aesthetic: It features a charcoal-black headliner and pillars, replacing the lighter colours found in standard models.
Stitching: The black leather seats and dashboard feature Cyber Orange contrast stitching, which is exclusive to this edition.
Materials: The wood-look veneers in the Titanium trim are replaced with matte carbon-fibre-style or high-gloss black inserts.
Technology & Equipment
While based on the high-spec Titanium trim, the Dark Edition adds one major functional upgrade:
360-Degree Camera: This new feature, exclusive to the Dark Edition, provides a bird's-eye view for easier parking, a first for the Territory range in SA.
Standard Luxury: It retains the dual 12.3-inch digital screens, instrument cluster and infotainment, panoramic moonroof, and the full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, ie, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, etc.
Price and Positioning
The Dark Edition is positioned at the top of the range, effectively sitting slightly above or replacing the standard Titanium as the premium choice.
| Model | Approx. Price (2025/2026) | Key Focus |
| Ambiente | ~R594,500 | Entry-level value |
| Trend | ~R651,500 | Mid-range convenience |
| Titanium | ~R609 890 (Used) | Luxury with chrome accents |
| Dark Edition | ~R734,900 | Flagship tech & blacked-out styling |
If you prefer a "stealth" look and want the added convenience of a 360-degree camera, the Dark Edition is the better pick. If you prefer traditional chrome styling, the standard Titanium offers nearly identical luxury for a slightly lower price.
