Omoda unveils SA-bound C4!

Omoda has pulled the covers off of its C4, a more attainable model within the Chinese brand's SUV line-up, and it's headed to SA!

Automotive News2 min read

Omoda has officially unveiled its  C4 crossover—the model formerly known as the C3—during a so-called "Cyber Mecha-themed" global debut in China. The event showcased the SUV's features and confirmed its arrival in South Africa in the second half of 2026.

From C3 to C4

The model's renaming from C3 to C4 directly resulted from global feedback and co-creation sessions with early adopters.

Design

The C4 embodies the brand's signature Cyber Mecha design philosophy:

  • Futuristic aesthetic: Inspired by the O-Universe concept, the C4 features "O-Universe" signature lighting, which bridges the virtual and physical worlds.

  • Design philosophy: Commenting on the approach, Hans Greyling, General Manager of Omoda & Jaecoo South Africa, stated, "Cross-border design isn’t just about combining styles. It challenges us to rethink established norms entirely, encouraging innovation by questioning the foundation of design itself.”

ICE and hybrid options

The Omoda C4 will be available globally with a dual offering of internal combustion engines (ICE) and hybrid (HEV) powertrains. This strategy aims to make next-generation mobility accessible to a wider audience.

Local outlook

Set to land in South Africa in the second half of 2026, the OMODA C4 is poised to join Brand O&J's range of SUVs. The C4 is expected to offer consumers a more enticing entry point into the brand.
