Changan launches Pretoria flagship showroom
We recently attended the launch of the Chinese automotive brand Changan's first dealership in South Africa.
Chinese automaker Changan and its local distributor, Jameel Motors South Africa, have officially opened their flagship showroom in Pretoria as the brand begins its nationwide expansion. The launch event showcased both the new dealership and the brand's model lineup.
Changan range line-up announced
Changan unveiled its new models, including SUVs, a small sedan and two bakkies.
Alsvin sedan: The brand's stylish, entry-level offering.
CS75 Pro SUV: A robust mid-size SUV.
Hunter Turbo Diesel: A traditional workhorse bakkie.
Hunter Range Extending Electric Vehicle (REEV): A high-tech bakkie option.
Deepal S07 EV: The brand's pure battery-electric vehicle (BEV) SUV.
Expansion
The Pretoria flagship is the first of 25 Changan dealerships ready to support sales, service, and parts nationwide.
Aftersales
Marinus Venter, Country General Manager for Jameel Motors South Africa, underscored the local team's commitment to customer support.
“Customers will benefit from Changan Aftersales, a comprehensive support programme including service and maintenance plans, extended warranties, 24-hour roadside assistance, and access to our national dealer network. It’s our way of ensuring complete peace of mind and building trust from day one,”
First owner takes delivery
The launch unexpectedly introduced the country's first official Changan owner. High school student Martinique Lamprecht arrived with her father, unaware she was there to take ownership of her brand-new Alsvin 1.5 DCT.
Lamprecht, who had just completed an exam, summarised the excitement of many new drivers, saying, “For me, this isn’t just my first car; it’s my freedom, my independence, and my own new beginning.”
