After a 10-year hiatus, Proton has returned to South Africa, and with a whole new product strategy. While previously the Malaysian automaker focussed on the hatchback, sedan and small bakkie segments, it is now competing in the crossover, SUV and sedan segments. Proton launched its return with the X50 crossover, and X70 SUV, but now there is a third product, the SAGA sedan.

Most affordable Proton

Proton recently introduced a new SAGA sedan to its product lineup. The model is available in three derivatives with the Standard trim in manual guise being the cheapest offering from the Malaysian automaker. All three variants are powered by a 1.3-litre, petrol motor producing 70 kW and 120 Nm of torque.
