Making a swift return to the South African automotive market, Proton Motors comes back with a bang in the form of the X50, a crossover SUV showing off Proton's concept ideas being translated into reality. My colleague Sean Nurse wrote up a lovely review on this vehicle right here.

The X50 incorporates little details of Malaysian design outside and inside while including a sporty 'tiger pouncing' inspiration in the vehicle's exterior design. The X50 here aims to be a flagship vehicle, gunning after the premium market currently occupied by the likes of the BMW X1 and Mazda CX-30. This vehicle is here to pounce on its rivals using affordable luxury as its advantage. Interested in buying one then? You can search AutoTrader for used and new options on our website. Consider trying out our Instant Offer tool to help ease those monthly repayments and sell your current car quickly and easily.

Proton X50 Pricing

You have four trim levels to choose from with the X50, namely: Standard, Luxury, Executive, and Premium. All models come with a 1.5-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine but the range-topping Premium comes with Direct Injection, increasing the power output from the engine.

Model Price incl. VAT
Proton X50 1.5T Standard from R449 900
Proton X50 1.5T Luxury from R499 900
Proton X50 1.5T Executive from R535 900

Proton X50 Repayments

We're going to use a standardised model for the financial agreement. The model consists of the Proton X50 purchased over a term of 72 months with a 10% deposit (this can be either trade-in value or cash). There will be no balloon or residual but there will be an interest rate of 12%. It's worth remembering that your individual credit score as well as your lending profile will be what dictates what terms you qualify for. We advise doing a credit check beforehand to avoid any shock-of-your-life moments. If you'd like to adjust these parameters to suit your particular situation, we'd advise trying out the AutoTrader Finance Calculator tool here to give you a good idea.

Model Monthly Installments
Proton X50 1.5T Standard R7 916 per month
Proton X50 1.5T Luxury R8 796 per month
Proton X50 1.5T Executive R9 429 per month
Proton X50 1.5T Premium R10 203 per month
