The Omoda brand seemingly sprung out of nowhere, but its first offering, the C5, is proving to be rather popular and selling well. A branch of the Chery brand, Omoda is a Chery product that is aimed at the younger, adventurous, style-conscious buyer. It borrows a lot from the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, including its drivetrain and running gear.

With the Omoda range only being launched in the last few months, they're still covered by the extensive manufacturer warranty of 5 years / 150 000 km on the vehicle and the impressive 10-year / 1 000 000 km warranty on the engine (for the first owner). Omoda C5 Maintenance costs
Chery's reestablishment in South Africa is relatively new, and the dealership network is rapidly expanding. The same goes for the Omoda sub-brand. These dealerships are franchise operations and are independently owned. As such, there is no hard and fast regulation of the pricing schedules, and pricing may vary from dealership to dealership, so it's wise to do a little shopping around to find the dealership that you are most comfortable with.
Maintenance costs should be minimal at this current point in time, and unless there's an extensive amount of mileage that has been done in the Omoda C5 you're considering buying, it will still be covered by the initial service plan, meaning that you will incur no costs for the regular servicing of an Omoda C5. How much does it cost to service an Omoda C5?
Once again, we'll stress that these prices are not set in stone, and we recommend that you contact your dealership for an accurate price if your Omoda C5 is out of plan. These figures are merely guidelines and only serve as a ballpark indication of what a typical service would cost in 2023/4.
Dealerships will stock the necessary items for most service requirements, the imported nature of the Omoda C5 will possibly see you waiting for a little longer for parts if the item in question is not a common replacement item. This is rather standard fare for all vehicles that are imported into the country and not manufactured locally.
Minor Service
A minor service will see the technicians change your oil and oil filter, check and clean or replace your air filter and pollen filter if need be. They will do a full systems check and see if there are other areas that needs addressing, like brakes or the fuel system.
Expect to pay between R4 500 and R5 500 for a minor service.
Major service
A major service can consist of a variety of actions, depending on the mileage of the vehicle. The typical major service will see the oil and oil filter changed, air filter replaced, pollen filter replaced, spark plugs replaced, fuel filter replaced and in many instances, a coolant and brake fluid drain, flush and refill. Brakes and other wear items will be checked at the same time and you will be advised on whether replacement is necessary.
Expect to pay between R 7 500 and R8 500 for a major service.
