With its customary 4x4 looks that draw on inspiration from the Jeep Wrangler and an interior that pay homage to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, the B40 Plus is appealing to those who are looking for a premium look and feel, but don't want to break the bank. Prices start from as little as R574 500, making it an affordable 4x4 option for those who need the off-road capabilities and refuse to compromise.
BAIC B40 Plus sales figures
The B40 Plus is in a niche market segment with only a few direct competitors. While it would be easy to compare with similarly priced SUVs, it's better to compare the success of the B40 Plus to that of similar vehicles, vehicles that offer a ladder chassis, 4x4 drivetrain, and cost roughly the same. We've selected the Mahindra Scorpio-N and GWM Tank 300 as its nearest rivals. For good measure, we're throwing in the Suzuki Jimny, and the 5-door version now offers a similar configuration as the other three.

Verdict
The BAIC B40 Plus is not popular at all. Sighting one on the roads is highly unlikely. As such, there's minimal demand for parts and little aftermarket assistance. One would have to resort to a dealership level for any required assistance.
