The B40 Plus concept isn't entirely new, as its history stretches back over 60 years from a military setting. Over the years, the formula has been refined significantly, and you get what you have here today. Here are the top three things you should know about the B40 Plus.
The drivetrains
You can have the B40 Plus in either petrol or diesel fashion. A 2.0-litre petrol engine produces 160kW and 320Nm, and a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine makes 110kW and 350Nm. You can have the B40 Plus with either a 6-speed manual transmission or 6 speed automatic. There is a new 8 Speed automatic as well now. There is a selectable four-wheel drive system with a mechanical transfer case and rear differential lock. The foundations for 4x4 capability are there with the powerplants on offer.
The Interior
The inside of the B40 Plus still maintains many of the rugged elements, but it's cosy inside, akin to what you'd find in luxury vehicles. Soft-touch materials, leather-trimmed seating, interior trim in some variants, and two-part hard-wearing cloth are also present. Another interesting feature is that the hard top, T-top style roof, and even the doors are removable if you fancy a bit of beach driving.
The Pricing
The BAIC B40 Plus purchase price includes a 5-year /120 000 km warranty and an optional 4-year /60 000 km service plan.
