One of the latest entrants into the mid-size crossover SUV market in South Africa is the Proton X50 from Malaysian manufacturer Geeley. Delivering a premium driving experience and loaded with tech and safety features, the X50 model is bringing the fight to the local segment. Many consumers are now basing their purchasing decision of safety ratings and the Proton X50 has a very good one.

The Proton X50 was tested by ASEAN NCAP, in short, the new car assessment program for Southeast Asian countries. They are part of the NCAP family. The test was conducted in 2020 and the Proton X50 scored 5/5 all-around stars for safety, you can find the full results here.

Part of the scoring system is the airbag count which lends toward occupant safety and the Proton scored well due to it having 4 airbags.
