The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro is a good 7-seater value proposition if you want to get a luxury SUV. My colleague Lawrence Minnie reviewed the Tiggo 8 Pro Max and you can read his thoughts here. Also, my other colleague Sean Nurse reviewed the entry-level Tiggo 8 Pro Distinction and you can read his thoughts here.

The Tiggo 8 Pro has been very well received on a global scale. As the biggest of the Tiggo siblings, naturally, it would find itself in a flagship position. As Chery South Africa likes to put it, "It's First Class all the way." Simply meaning you're in for a luxury experience with the tech-laden and leather-clad interior that gives off an air of sophistication and is best suited for families. The Tiggo 8 Pro makes you feel like an executive owning this vehicle. How is the performance though?

Tiggo 8 Pro Engine Range

You have two engines in the Tiggo 8 Pro range. The 1.6 TGDI is found in the Distinction and Executive variants. Whereas in the Tiggo 8 Pro Max, you'll find a bigger 2.0 TGDI engine. Both the 1.6 and 2.0 are petrol 4-cylinder turbocharged engines with direct injection.

Engine 1.6 TGDI 2.0 TGDI
Power 145 kW 187 kW
Torque 290 Nm 390 Nm
0-100 kmh 8.9 sec 7.3 sec
Claimed Fuel Consumption 7.0l /100km 7.3l /100km

The 1.6 TGDI is an award-winning engine and it's easy to see why. There's a hefty amount of power and it isn't too bad on fuel consumption. Then we get to the 2.0 TGDI which improves on all aspects of the 1.6 but falters slightly on fuel consumption. One could argue that the 2.0 TGDI found in the Tiggo 8 Pro Max would be more performance orientated while the 1.6 TGDI is the tamer of the two. Whichever you go with, the Tiggo 8 Pro's performance is good and you wouldn't be finding yourself wanting more power.
