Hyundai Palisade
The Palisade is seriously capacious inside, sporting a 509-litre boot that extended to 1 297-litres with the third row of seats folded flat and a mammoth 2 447-litres with the second row folded too. Since our press unit is the 7-seat option, the second row features two individual seats, making it feel far more luxurious and spacious, while the 3-seat third row is surprisingly accommodating of adult occupants, provided they are not excessively tall.

The interior has seen the biggest change, and even in the lower-spec Luxury model, the fittings are top-notch. Polished black surfaces, brushed aluminium and soft, supple leather adorn the surfaces. Electrically adjustable, heated and ventilated front seats are a welcome fitment and although the interior may be rather dark, a simple flick of a switch will open the panoramic sunroof and let in the sun, brightening things up.

The second row's seatback can also recline, and access to the rearmost seats (where my son sat, because why share a bench with your older sister if you don't need to?) is easy, but not ideal for adult-sized passengers, as is the case with most SUVs of this ilk, but at least the second row slides forwards or backwards, depending on your space requirements. The boot is then left with about 260 litres' worth of space with the third row in use, but if you fold those down (by pressing a button), there's almost 900 litres of room for your camping gear or oompah band instruments. As mentioned before there is now a third row of seating available with the second and third-row seats being controllable from a switch panel in the boot. Dropping the third row expands the 1326l boot to a massive 2396l. There is plenty of space to seat 7 adults with a number of storage compartments to house their necessities.
