Coming of the back of a successful first outing at this year's Simola Hillclimb, Toyota has finally announced the model derivatives and pricing for the brand new GR Corolla. The new GR Corolla has set tongues wagging since it debuted and there was much speculation as to whether South Africa would be getting the model. With the addition of the Corolla it now brings the GR model offering in South Africa to 4 with the GR Yaris, GR 86 and GR Supra. Toyota SA also offers 3 GR Sport models in the Corolla Cross GRS, Hilux GRS and Land Cruiser GRS.
The GR Corolla is offered in two grades in South Africa, the GR Corolla 1.6T Core and GR Corolla 1.6T Circuit. The latter comes with a forged carbon fibre roof, heads-up display, and suede GR Sport seats. Both models are available in Glacier White, Raven Black and Fierce Red. The Circuit Edition will also be available in the distinctive Midnight Grey.
The new GR Corolla is offered with a 1.6-litre three-cylinder, turbo-charged engine that produces 221kW. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, the GR Corolla makes use of the GR-Four all-wheel-drive system developed through Toyota’s involvement in the World Rally Championship.

A 9-services/100 000km service plan is provided as well as a 3-year/100 000km Warranty. Customers can also purchase extended service plans via their Toyota dealer.
Verdict
After having spent considerable time with the other GR stablemates we can attest to the performance credentials of the new Corolla and with Toyota confirming that very limited numbers of the new model will be made available, it is highly advisable that you reserve yours before all the pre-sales run out.
