Is the Toyota Vitz a good car?

The Toyota Vitz is a good car as it's been dubbed as South Africa's cheapest Toyota at the time of typing this article. In a time where affordable mobility is in demand more than ever, the Toyota Vitz is here to deliver on that demand in spades.

Who is the Toyota Vitz a good car for?

The Toyota Vitz is a good car for someone who needs a fuel-efficient but perky and fun runabout that has an affordable purchase price. You need to get moving and this car is your ticket for that.

Is the Toyota Vitz a good first car?

The Toyota Vitz would make for an excellent first car. It's easy to drive, fuel-efficient and not intimidating in size. You also have all the necessities a new driver needs to commute comfortably and safely.

Is the Toyota Vitz a good family car?

The Toyota Vitz would be serviceable for a family vehicle albeit for small families. If this is your first car then great, there are ISOFIX child restraint systems in place if you have little ones. There's also 295 litres of boot space to play around with.

Is there a Hybrid Toyota Vitz?

At the moment, there's no hybrid version of the Toyota Vitz available for sale.

What’s it like to drive?

Reviewer's opinion

"With low running costs, solid underpinnings and a badge worth its weight in gold, we suspect that Toyota will find more sales success with the Vitz and that its 800 units-per-month goal is entirely possible."

- Sean Nurse, AutoTrader

What does it look like?

Exterior

Interior

What is the Toyota Vitz like inside?

The Toyota Vitz for a compact hatchback, has ample space inside to keep occupants in comfort even in the rear. There's a host of storage pockets and the necessary cupholders for everyone. The seats are finished in patterned fabric, there's gloss silver trim around the cabin and to top it all off an Infotainment centre at least in XR trim. The interior has enough buttons and features that wouldn't intimidate a new driver or someone renting this vehicle for just a weekend.

Style

The Toyota Vitz embraces the enterprising compact hatchback for the city and open road. The design is gentle and welcoming with its rain droplet style head and taillights and curvaceous lines. The front fascia is bright and neatly designed. The side profile is broad and in the XR trim at least, you get multi-spoke alloy wheels finished in gloss black. The rear tapers off a bit with gentle curves. The Toyota Vitz design is youthful and welcoming.

Tech features

  • Stop-start technology
