Updated Ford Everest headed to SA

Ford South Africa has shaken up its SUV stable for 2026, introducing a refreshed Everest line-up designed to offer better value and a broader range of choices. The headline news is a more accessible entry point to the range and a significant power bump for the mid-tier models.

New entry point

Replacing the previous XLT trim, the Everest Active is the new gateway into the range. It’s powered by an updated 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, now featuring a timing chain for better durability. It pushes out a respectable 125kW and 405Nm, paired with a recalibrated 10-speed automatic transmission

  • Safety: Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop/Go and Lane Centring.

  • Tech: 12-inch SYNC 4 touchscreen and an 8-inch digital cluster.

  • Drivetrain: Available in both 4x2 and 4x4, with the latter featuring a locking rear diff and extra off-road modes.

V6 power is now more ubiquitous

The rest of the range now leans heavily into Ford’s 3.0-litre V6 Diesel (184kW/600Nm).

Everest Sport

The Sport now ditches the 2.0-litre Bi-turbo in favour of the 3.0-litre V6 as standard. It also inherits Ford’s permanent four-wheel-drive system (EMTC) with a 4A (Auto) mode. New standard perks include a 360-degree camera, Tyre Pressure Monitoring, and a powered tailgate.

Everest Wildtrak

The Wildtrak gets a visual refresh with a black front bumper and raised roof racks. It now features Matrix LED headlamps (previously exclusive to the Platinum) and power-folding third-row seats. It also debuts the striking new Ignite Orange paint option.

Everest Platinum

The flagship remains the king of the hill. It continues to offer the 12-speaker B&O sound system and cooled seats, but adds new wheel lip mouldings and the Acacia Green colourway.

The Tremor is coming

Ford South Africa also teased the upcoming Everest Tremor, set to arrive later this year. Expect this variant to be the most off-road-focused Everest yet, likely bridging the gap between luxury and hardcore trail capability.

“Customers now have a wider choice to suit their needs, from the more affordable and fuel-efficient Everest Active to the trio of 3.0L V6 diesel 4WD models,” says Sunil Sewmohan, Director of Product Marketing at Ford South Africa.
