The Munich-built BMW M3 range has received some upgrades, and the great news for station wagon fans is that the M3 Touring is headed to local shores!

What's new?
The new M3 models feature updated LED headlights, and local-spec models will feature Adaptive LEDs as standard. At the rear, there's now a silver ring around the badge. More changes have been made inside, including a new three-spoke steering wheel, the latest iDrive operating system for the infotainment system, ambient lighting around the air vents, and changes to the climate control system.
Power bump
The products we receive will have updated power since South Africans are only interested in the Competition models within the BMW M Division. The twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six now produces 390kW and 650Nm of torque, sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The M3 Sedan will get to 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.5 seconds, while the Touring will complete the same sprint in 3.6 seconds. The top speed is claimed to be 290km/h.
Packages
Various packages are available in the M3 range, namely the M Carbon exterior pack, the M Race Track package, which reduces vehicle weight by up to 25 kg, and a host of BMW M Performance Parts for additional personalisation options.
SA arrival
The Production phase-in will start in Germany in July 2024, with the models' local introduction slated for the fourth quarter of 2024.
