As the brand's most iconic and indeed its signature product, the 911 is sacred to both the Porsche brand and the motoring world alike, so when a new version is released, it's safe to say that it's a pretty big deal, let alone when the model being released features hybrid technology for the first time! Here's what we know about the new 911!

What's new?

The exterior features targeted aerodynamic updates, including new bumpers and integrated LED headlights.  The rear design includes a redesigned light strip, rear grille, and model-specific exhaust systems. There are a variety of wheel designs to choose from, including exclusive carbon blade wheels for the 911 Carrera.

The cockpit has been modernised with a fully digital instrument cluster and a 12.6-inch curved display. New connectivity features include enhanced Apple CarPlay integration, video streaming, and native apps like Spotify and Apple Music. The Porsche Driver Experience focuses on driver-centric controls and a redesigned centre console with inductive smartphone charging. Also, for the first time, we see the introduction of a Start/Stop button in place of the traditional key in a 911, while the drive mode button is now standard across the range!

GTS

During the brand's Livestream, the Carrera Cabriolet and, to a greater extent, the 911 Carrera GTS were detailed. The big news with the GTS is its new hybrid drivetrain. Called T-Hybrid, the system comprises an e-motor fitted to the PDK gearbox, a 3.6-litre flat-six engine with an eTurbo, which is an electrically assisted turbocharger that reduces lag, as well as an HV battery located up front, which sends power to the e-motor. Combined outputs are strong, with 398kW and 610Nm of torque available (45kW more than before), with the hybrid system adding 50kg to the total weight, now quoted at 1 595kg. Performance is improved, with 0-100km/h coming up in 3.0 seconds and the top speed now quoted at 312km/h.

GTS models also include adaptive front diffusers and five cooling air flaps, rear-axle steering, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, and a sports suspension with PASM.

Carrera

The standard Carrera mode does without the hybrid system and retains its 3.0-litre boxer engine with twin turbochargers. However, the motor has been comprehensively redeveloped, featuring the intercooler and turbochargers from the previous GTS models. Updates result in 290 kW and 450 Nm, allowing for a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.1 seconds (3.9 seconds with the Sport Chrono package) and a top speed of 294 km/h.
