1. According to Nissan, the NV200 has the longest load space in its class
The spacious interior offers a 2.0-metre load bay, but if you need even more room, just fold down the passenger seats — this will increase the load bay length to 2.8 metres. Maximum payload for the NV200 is 738 kilograms.
2. You have a choice between the 1.6i Visia (petrol) and 1.5dCi Visia (diesel) variants
According to Nissan, fuel economy of the diesel model starts at 4.9 litres per 100 km, but once you're fully loaded up, this will be a bit of a stretch. The petrol model's fuel usage is rated (also by Nissan) at 7.2 litres per 100 km. We reckon you can add about 2 litres per 100 km to both vans for a ballpark figure — when they're not carrying heavy cargo. A five-speed manual gearbox does duty in both variants, and drivers report that they find the power and torque to be sufficient.
3. Basic safety features haven't been skimped on
So many workhorse vehicles in SA lack important safety equipment, but Nissan ensures that requirements are met. Both variants feature 2 airbags, ABS (anti-lock brakes) with electronic brake-force distribution, and brake assist.
