Should you buy a used Ford Territory?
Ford may have culled a number of its passenger vehicles over the last few years, but it is slowly adding some new models. One of the latest models unveiled is the Ford Territory, and we will find out if the Territory will make a good used buy.

South Africans will be familiar with the Ford Territory nameplate, which was sold here in the early 2000s before quietly disappearing. Ford revived the name in 2024, applying it to its mid-size crossover SUV offering.

The new Territory did raise some eyebrows due to its Chinese origins but has been well received by SA consumers. The model sold almost 250 units last month (July 2024), almost as many as the popular Everest. The question on many consumers' minds is, should you buy one of these vehicles once they hit the used market?

The Territory range is powered by the 1.8-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, which delivers 138kW and 318Nm to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. You can select a few driving modes, including Normal, Eco, Sport, and Mountain. Verdict
As of the writing of this article, the Ford Territory was less than a year old, and there were no second-hand models available on site. Several demo units were available from dealerships with marginal price drops, but most vehicles offered for sale were demos that were close to or at the price of new. It is difficult to say if the Territory will make a good used buy on price alone.
So, should you buy a used Territory? The answer is yes, if the price is right when the time comes.
