The refreshed and enhanced Peugeot Landtrek bakkie, which will be available next year, has been unveiled. It's looking more stylish than ever, with a host of added tech and features. Here's what buyers can look forward to in 2025.
What's new on the outside?
The new Landtrek gets a new, redesigned, vertical grille with LED DRLs in the shape of the brand's claws, as seen on other Peugeot products such as the 2008, one of our favourite compact SUVs. The lower front section has been reinforced and gets brand new fog lamp bezels in gloss black.
At the rear, you'll notice the rather large Peugeot brand lettering with new 3D-effect LED taillights. Striking star-shaped alloys underscore the Landtrek's fashionable roots.
The Landtrek also offers 60 accessories, including thermoformed cargo bed protection, a glazed hard top, a chrome roll bar, protective mats, and running boards.
The Landtrek's cargo bed has a width of 1.22 metres between wheel arches. It can hold two Euro pallets in double cabin configuration (1.63 m x 1.60 m x 500mm cargo bed), and three Euro pallets in single cabin configuration (2.43 m x 1.60 m x 500mm cargo bed).

What's new inside the cabin?
The clever dashboard layout includes a large, 10-inch colour touchscreen with smartphone mirroring - Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with Peugeot's signature toggle switches underneath. A 7-inch digital instrument cluster is now also part of the deal.
Customers also have a choice of two single seats with a central armrest or a Multiflex 3-seater bench seat, compliments of the brand's commercial vehicle division. The latter folds down to form a work shelf or can serve as an armrest. Alternatively, the central and passenger sections can be folded for loading gear of your choice, with a weight limit of 75kg.
The rear seat features a split and folding backrest, which can also bear a load when folded. Isofix anchorage points for the outer rear seats are standard.
Customers can also opt for the fitment of one to four cameras for easier manoeuvring.

Engine options available for the Peugeot Landtrek
The flagship model: 2.2-litre Multijet diesel engine (Global markets, not Africa)
The primary engine option for the brand-new Peugeot Landtrek is the 2.2-litre Multijet diesel engine, which produces 147kW. This engine delivers a healthy 450Nm of torque, ensuring strong performance for both work and leisure activities. It can be paired with an EAT8 8-speed automatic gearbox or a 6-speed manual transmission, providing flexibility based on driver preference. It is in permanent four-wheel-drive with four driving modes: Normal, Sport, Snow and Sand, and semi-autonomous driving technology like adaptive cruise control and everything that goes along with that.
This variant has a braked towing capacity of 3500. We may get this model here in the future, but until then, we have to be content with the 1.9 below.
1.9-Litre diesel engine: South Africa
The upgraded model with the brand's trusted 1.9-litre diesel engine, which generates 110kW and 350Nm, will be available next year. This engine is designed for those who prefer a balance between power and efficiency and is exclusively paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Features include 4x2 or 4x4 interlockable transmission, ESP, 6 airbags, descent grip control, lane departure warning, and towing assistance. The towing capacity (braked) is a decent 3000 kg, while the wading depth is 600 mm.
2.4-Litre petrol engine (Global markets)
For consumers looking for a petrol alternative, the Landtrek also offers a 2.4-litre Petrol engine that produces approximately 155kW and 320Nm. This engine provides flexibility in fuel choice and is available with a 6-speed manual and an automatic gearbox, catering to different driving preferences, with a choice between rear-wheel-drive and part-time four-wheel-drive. This model has not yet been confirmed for SA.

The Stellantis plant in Gqeberha is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, with production beginning in early 2026, but the new 1.9-litre Landtrek will be available to buy in SA from 2025 when it launches locally.
We will have more information available closer to the national launch.
