New cars headed to SA in 2025!

It's that time of year again when we look at what's to come in 2025! Here's what we think the local automotive market can expect in 2025!

As we reflect on a big year for the local automotive industry, where the rise of Chinese brands has reshaped South Africans' buying habits, the anticipated model introductions for 2025 have us excited to start the new year!

Aston Martin

Vanquish Volante

Aston Martin committed to the V12 engine with its 614kW and 1 000Nm Vanquish, which will be available as a cabriolet in South Africa during 2025.

Vantage Roadster 

The Vantage drop-top has a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 489kW and 800Nm. It has been confirmed for a local introduction next year.

Audi

At Volkswagen's recent media year-end function, Audi confirmed the following models to be heading to local shores in 2025:

A3 

The revised A3 line, including a refreshed RS3!

Q6 e-tron 

An all-electric SUV that joins Audi's range.

An updated and even faster version of the flagship Q8 will reach SA in 2025!

Bentley

Continental GT 

There's a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 hybrid powering the new GT. The 575kW model, with 81 km of all-electric driving range, will be in SA in 2025

BWM SA has confirmed that its small four-door coupe will be making landfall in 2025

BYD 

The world's biggest producer of all-electric cars will be bringing a hybrid called the Sealion 6 and another EV model to the local market, but what we're all looking forward to is the Shark PHEV bakkie!

We headed to China with Chery recently, and the brand confirmed the following models for local introduction in 2025!

We anticipate a new variant of the Everest making an appearance. Based on the Ranger lineup, the only Everest we've yet to see is the off-road-ready Tremor, so let's go for that!

Mustang Dark Horse

We've driven the Dark Horse, and with just 50 coming to local shores in the first batch and demand dictating future supply, this is set to be a rare pony car!

GWM/Haval


Haval H7 and H9 

GWM's SUV division, Haval, took us to China earlier this year, where we were told that both the H7 and H9 models would be making their way to local shores in 2025!

Alcazar

At the recent Creta facelift launch, the South Korean brand confirmed that the Alcazar will replace the Grand Creta in 2025!

At the same Creta event, the brand confirmed that an updated Tucson is coming!

Isuzu


mu-X 

It has been confirmed that SA will be receiving the updated mu-X, with mildly revised styling and a refreshed interior.

D-Max 2.2

Isuzu has announced a new 2.2-lite turbodiesel engine and 8-speed automatic gearbox, which we may see filter into local D-max models locally.

J5

Positioned below the popular J7, the all-new J5 marks the brand’s first entry into the more compact SUV segment.

J6

The all-electric J6 will also be available in South Africa next year. The 2WD variant delivers up to 184kW and 220Nm of torque, while the 4WD version boosts outputs to 279kW and 385Nm

J7 PHEV

The J7 range will be bolstered with a plug-in hybrid derivative. This model famously covered a 1 300 km endurance test in China and achieved a combined fuel consumption figure of 3.3 L/100 km. Expect an all-electric driving range of 90 km too!

J8

The brand's flagship J8 will be arriving locally, too, with seating for 7 occupants and a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine delivering 195kW and 400Nm of torque.

Avenger 

The new Avenger will be available as an all-electric, e-Hybird, or petrol-only vehicle locally in 2025, but details were scarce at the time of writing.

Chinese automaker Jetour recently took us to China, and here are the models we know will be coming to SA in 2025!

J1 & J2

The J1 is the more soft-roader lifestyle SUV, while the J2 is more Land Rover Defender-esque in its design and intention. With pricing said to be around the R650 000 mark, there's much excitement around these two models!

A new Outlander Sport will be launched in 2025, offering a mid-size SUV option from the brand

Xpander Cross 

A more rugged-looking Xpnader MPV has been confirmed, too!

Pajero Sport 

An updated version of the Pajero Sport with revised styling and features should spell the final update for this model before it is replaced.

C7

The strikingly styled C7 will sit between the entry-level C5 and the luxury C9, offering what is likely to be the most well-balanced within the local Omoda range.

The C9 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) is powered by a 1.5-litre engine that receives electrical assistance from up to three motors. Local specifications will be announced closer to its introduction.
