We attended a sneak peek of LDV's upcoming Terron 9, a lifestyle double-cab bakkie that will be launched at the end of August 2025.

Model range
LDV has confirmed that there will be three Terron 9 models: Elite, Luxury, and Premium. Let's delve into the details of what future owners can expect.
Drivetrain
All three models are powered by a 2.5L turbo diesel engine, delivering a maximum net power of 153.5 kW and maximum torque of 520 Nm. All variants come with a 4x4 drivetrain and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is claimed at 9.9 seconds.
The Terron 9 offers a variety of driving modes to suit different conditions. All models include Normal, Eco, and Sport modes and a Manual Shift mode for the automatic transmission. Off-road capabilities are enhanced with Mud/Snow/Sand/Tow and Terrain/4L/Off-Road modes, including Rock, Deep Snow, Deep Mud/Wade, and Rock Crawl. Steering modes are also adjustable, with Standard, Sport, and Comfort options available on all variants.
Dimensions and Weight
The Terron 9 has a wheelbase of 3300 mm. The overall length is 5500 mm for all models, while the overall width (with exterior mirrors extended) is 2252 mm. The approach angle is 29 degrees, the departure angle is 25 degrees, and the maximum climbing angle is 31 degrees. Ground clearance is 220mm for the Elite model and 180mm for the Luxury and Premium models.
The gross vehicle mass (GVM) is 3 500 kg for the Elite, and 3 320 kg for the Luxury and Premium models. The kerb weight is 2341 kg for the Elite, and 2 411 kg and 2 436 kg for the Luxury and Premium, respectively. All three models have a payload capacity of 1 100 kg, 850 kg, and 825 kg, respectively. Braked towing capacity is 3500 kg for all variants, and unbraked towing capacity is 750 kg (Elite and Luxury) or 220 kg (Premium). The maximum tow ball down weight is 220 kg.
Safety
The Terron 9 boasts a 5-star ANCAP Safety Rating (2024). Standard safety features across the range include:

The Luxury and Premium models add Blind Spot Assist, DOW (Door Open Warning), and Roll Movement Intervention (RMI). The Premium model further includes a 360-degree Panoramic Camera.
Comfort features
All models come with Automatic Climate Control air conditioning, a rear-view mirror with auto-dimming, and an Electronic Park Brake. Seating for five is standard. The Elite model features a driver's seat with a 6-way electronic adjustment. In contrast, the Luxury and Premium models offer a driver's seat with 8-way electronic adjustment, lumbar support with ventilation, massage function, and memory. The Luxury and Premium models also get heated rear seats and a panoramic sunroof.
Interior
All Terron 9 models have a "Terron 9" branded audio and communication system with JBL speakers and a 12.3-inch display. They all feature Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Wireless Mobile Charging, and multiple USB ports. The Elite model comes with four speakers, while the Luxury and Premium models are equipped with eight speakers. The Premium model also features ambient lighting.
Pricing and availability
While pricing is unknown, a direct comparison with its pricing in Australia puts it between R650-750 000, but we think it will be more than that. Stay tuned for its official launch at the end of August 2025.
