Big Battery

The Audi SQ5 is a performance luxury SUV that requires a great deal of electrical power to maintain its onboard systems. When the battery voltage begins to run low, any number of faults and gremlins may appear.

The easy fix for many of these low voltage errors is replacing the battery. It is a relatively straightforward task to accomplish but you will need some specialty tools and a strong set of arms to pry the battery loose due to its size and location.

You will need:

  • Replacement battery of correct amperage and size
  • 10mm socket, extension and ratchet
  • T40 Torx bit and driver

Let's get it done

1. Open the boot

2. Remove the floor covering, speaker subwoofer and spare wheel

3. Locate the battery and remove the plastic covers

4. Use the 10mm to remove the negative battery terminal

5. Use the 10mm again to remove the positive terminal

6. Use the Torx bit to remove the nylon battery strap bracket

7. Exchange battery

8. Reassemble in reverse order

Ensure that the vent tube is secured properly, you may need to reset the charge management in the vehicles onboard computer. Disconnecting the battery without a memory saver will result in the computer memory and settings being erased
