Shedding new light
The Proton brand that was sold in South Africa may never have been as well known as some of its contemporaries, but these were still decent vehicles and many of the half-ton bakkies and city hatchbacks are still in use today. Proton owned Lotus Cars at the time and many if not all the vehicles they produced were powered by Mitsubishi engines.

Proton left South Africa for a short period while the company restructured and became owned by Geely Motors. With Geely also owning Volvo it made sense that there would be quite a lot of tech sharing happening and the Protons that are now sold in South Africa are a far cry from the Protons of old.
With the new Proton models being technologically advanced they receive many premium items as standard such as LED lighting front and rear. LED lighting has a much longer lifespan than the Halogen bulbs of the past but occasionally will need to be replaced.
Unfortunately with the Proton X50 being very new and the lifespan of LED bulbs being considerably longer than standard halogen-style bulbs, there is no information of the procedure to change out these emitters. One look at the engine bay is enough to indicate that Proton really doesn't want DIY'ers fiddling around under the multitude of plastic engine bay covers.
We therefore highly advise leaving this procedure to the Proton dealer to fix should you ever need this done.
