How to change the car battery on a Peugeot 308

Here's how to change the battery on your Peugeot 308. A complete guide to help you in a pinch.

If you are reading this, it's safe to assume that you're the DIY type. No visiting a battery servicing centre for you! Replacing the battery on your car is a fun and simple maintenance project that you can tackle in a few minutes with some simple tools.

You will need: 

  • A new battery 
  • 10mm socket, socket wrench and extension
  • 10mm, 12mm and 13mm wrenches (depending on year model)
 

Let's get started!

 

  1. Unclip and remove the air intake pipe next to the battery
  2. Remove the fusebox cover.
  3. Using your wrench, remove the positive battery terminal.
  4. Remove the fusebox.
  5. Remove the battery cover.
  6. Using a 10mm socket and extension, remove the bolt and retaining plate that holds the battery in place.
  7. Pull the battery forward and using your wrench, remove the negative terminal.
  8. Remove battery.
  9. Put new battery into position.
  10. Replace retainers, power cables and covers in reverse order.
