The Kia Sorento is the largest SUV that you will find on offer in South Africa. Labelled as a mid-size crossover SUV, the Sorento is only surpassed in size by the Grand Sedona MPV - you'd need to move abroad if you want the beefier Telluride.
Now in its third incarnation, the Sorento still holds firm as a quality offering with high levels of specification, exemplary ride quality and impeccable road manners. We saw it updated in 2018 with some new trim and tech, along with a new 8-speed gearbox that made all the difference. It remains a solid 7-seater alternative to the likes of the Ford Everest and Toyota Fortuner.

Details have been released regarding the all-new, fourth-generation Sorento but we're yet to hear as to when it will be launching in South Africa. You may be tempted to wait for the release of the new model, but for those that can't, the current model still presents great value for money.
Models
The Kia Sorento is available in four different models. All four are powered by the same 147 kW and 440 Nm 2.2-litre CRDi diesel engine and use the aforementioned 8-speed automatic gearbox. There are two different trim levels, LX and EX and then the option of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, making up the four models on offer.
