GWM P500 gets a mild makeover

GWM's impressive P500 bakkie has received a minor cosmetic update, creating a more toned-down aesthetic.

GWM has updated its P500, with blacked-out exterior details that will appeal to consumers after a stealthier look!

Updates

At 5 445 mm long, nearly 2.0 metres wide, and with a massive chrome grille, the P500 hasn't exactly been a subtle addition to the bakkie market. However, new black design cues provide a new look. A gloss black grille transforms the front end, while black roof rails, mirrors, and a styling bar complete the latest aesthetic updates. There are also LED headlights, smoked-glass tail lamps, and the product's unique split-opening tailgate.

We love the new black grille on the P500!

Drivetrains

The P500 has two powertrain options: a conventional turbodiesel or a self-charging petrol-electric hybrid (HEV). Topping the range is the 2.0T HEV variant, which still produces 255kW and 648Nm of torque. It is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and standard 4x4 capability. There's also a 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine with 135kW and 480Nm. All models boast a towing capacity of 3 500kg.

Features

Features include black leather seats that are electric, heated, ventilated, and massage up front. The rear seats are also heated and cooled with power adjustment. The P500 has 12.3-inch or 14.6-inch infotainment screens, a 10-speaker Harman Infinity audio system, front and rear wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, a 4-way adjustable steering column, and rear passenger climate control.

Safety

Safety features include Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and a Driver Fatigue Monitoring System. A 360-degree camera system, seven airbags (including a centre airbag), and Rear Cross-Traffic Warning are standard.
