Automotive News3 min read

As Geely's most widely exported SUV, the Coolray’s arrival marks a significant milestone for the brand's local expansion strategy.

Styling

The Coolray introduces Geely’s latest design language:

  • Front fascia: Features a vertical-slat grille flanked by fins and slim LED headlamps.

  • Profile & rear: A strong shoulder line leads to twin-pod LED tail lamps and a diffuser-inspired lower bumper. Vanguard and Vertex models get a contrasting two-tone roof.

  • Flagship touch: The top-tier Vertex derivative gains a rear wing with integrated side fins and "S" badging.

Customers can choose from five exterior colours: White, Grey, Silver, Green, and Red.

Dimensions

The Coolray measures 4 380 mm in length, has a 2 600 mm wheelbase, and offers a usable ground clearance of 161 mm.

Powertrain highlights:

  • Engine: 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine.

  • Output: 128 kW at 5 500 r/min and 290 Nm of torque between 2 000 and 3 500 r/min.

  • Gearbox: 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT) driving the front wheels.

  • 0-100 km/h: An impressive 7.6 seconds, making it one of the quickest sprinters in its class.

  • Fuel economy: Geely claims a frugal combined consumption figure of 6.5 L/100 km.

  • Drive modes: Drivers can toggle between Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Adaptive modes.

Interior

Inside, Geely has gone all-out on digital real estate, pairing a massive 14.6-inch high-definition infotainment touchscreen with an 8.8-inch digital driver's instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility come standard across the range.

On the practicality front, the Coolray comfortably accommodates five passengers and offers 330 litres of luggage capacity, expanding to a generous 1 054 litres with the rear seats folded flat.
