First released back in 2015, the Opel Adam was quite the looker and came in a number of guises to suit the fashionable sensibilities of hip young buyers. Featuring 2 engine options, an NA 1.4 and 1.0T, and a host of styling options, the Adam found a home with many a trendy young professional. Sadly, the departure of the General Motors brand from South Africa, left the Opel brand in something of limbo until Stellantis fully took control of the marque. During this time frame, the Adam was discontinued and is no longer available new. Its short life span though proved that owners loved these cars and the funky design.

As a small city car, you can’t expect record setting power and the Adam is offered with a choice of two motors. The first is their trusted 1.4-litre ecoTEC offering but the one we had on test was the Adam Glam, fitted with their 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder ecoFLEX turbo motor which produces 85kW and 170Nm torque, which is more than enough to give the Adam the get-up-and-go that anyone could want from a city car.

What is the Opel Adam like inside?
The Opel Adam is a small city car and internal space is not plentiful. Seating is comfortable and the boot is big enough for small grocery shopping trips at 170l.
Style
With a number of derivatives available the interiors of the Adams vary quite a lot. Comfy sports seats in leather, brushed aluminium, and piano black are constants while colour-coded panels and cool design themes are found in other models.

The Adam could be ordered with a R1500 with the Twisted Pack that gave the buyers the option of a white or black roof. The OPC-line Pack at R8 300 included 17-inch alloy wheels and the OPC body kit. Finally, there was the option of the Xtreme Pack at R19 200. It included all the above-mentioned, but 18-inch wheels replaced the 17-inch units.
