While the Mercedes-Benz GLC offer all the safety features and driver assistance systems that will make piloting it safe and easy, its dimensions will take some time to get used to. The GLC-Class also might be excessive for the needs of a first-time driver/owner and we would rather recommend the GLA and GLB models as they also offer offroad capabilities but in more compact forms.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC comes in two body shapes, the traditional SUV and a coupé. While both offer five seats and a host of safety and comfort features that would meet almost all the requirements from any family, the SUV might just be the more practical choice. The GLC coupé variants will comfortably fit three smaller children on the rear bench and have ample storage space at the rear for shorter trips, however, if your children are in their teens or just very tall, the sloping roofline might make them a bit cramped. In that situation, the traditional squarish SUV design will be less intrusive.
Is there a Hybrid Mercedes-Benz GLC?
The current range of Mercedes-Benz GLC models is motivated by two diesel engines and one petrol engine. While the diesel models fully operate on the internal combustion engine, the petrol variants incorporate a mild-hybrid system which bolsters the performance and efficiency under acceleration and other driving scenarios. Mercedes-Benz has also developed a fully electric vehicle namely the EQC which will be competing within this segment. The EQC will become available from April 2022.

"How does it go? Very well indeed, in fact, quite sportily too. The 250 is fitted with a petrol-fuelled 1 991cc turbocharged four-cylinder motor, tuned to produce 155 kW and 350 Nm of torque. The already-mentioned all-wheel drive transmission takes power from the engine via the excellent nine-speed automatic gearbox that Mercedes has employed for some time now."

What is the Mercedes-Benz GLC like inside?
Even in its most basic trim, the Mercedes-Benz GLC comes very well equipped and offers very good value for money. The interior is plush with soft-touch and leather surfaces found on most panels. The interior is spacious and provides good legroom for the rear passengers while the raised ride height gives a good vantage point for the driver. As alluded to earlier, the rear headroom might be infringed upon by the sloping roof on the coupé derivatives and might be uncomfortable for taller passengers.
Style
Even prior to the facelift of the GLC-Class range, the model was very attractive and incorporates strong muscular lines on the smooth body. The biggest change after the facelift happens in the front as the model got new headlamps and a new grille and bumper designs. While it retains most of the first-generation styling on the sides and rear, subtle changes set the latest models apart. Out of the two body styles, the coupé variants certainly takes the prize for the more stylish option as the sloping roof and more dramatic rear makes a strong statement from any angle.
