That brings up the question; "How safe is the Mercedes-AMG GLC-Class?" Aside from the basic safety systems in place, the Mercedes-AMG GLC-Class offers a comprehensive range of safety systems to keep you and your loved ones safe on the roads.
Basic Safety
The Mercedes-AMG GLC-Class is kitted out with no fewer than 7 airbags as standard and customers have the option of expanding that to a complement of 9 airbags. The GLC is also fitted with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) brakes with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution). Traction and Stability control is a standard feature as well.
The GLC-Class scores a full 5-stars in the Euro NCAP crash test with a rating of 95% for adult occupants, 89% for child occupants and a pedestrian rating of 82%.
Additional Safety Systems
1. Active Distance Distronic
This comprehensive cruise control system uses radars to keep an eye on the traffic ahead of you and adjusts your speed accordingly. If the traffic ahead of your slows, the system will automatically slow the vehicle down and even apply the brakes if necessary. When it frees up again, it will accelerate to your selected speed and hold it there.
2. Route-Based Speed Adaption
This system takes semi-autonomous driving to the next level and complements the Active Distance Distronic system by utilizing not only the radars and cameras on the vehicle but the GPS location as well. It will adjust the speed for various situations such as when approaching intersections, curves in the road and even traffic.
3. Active Lane Keep Assist
This is one of those that once you've used it, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. Active Lane Keep Assist uses the cameras on the car to help keep your vehicle between the lines on the road. Should you start to stray, whether it's because you're fatigued or had a momentary lapse in concentration, it will guide the vehicle back between the lines, keeping you out of harm's way.
4. Active Brake Assist
Life happens rather quickly and accidents even quicker. With Active Brake Assist, you're able to cut down the vital creation time of the braking system when faced with an emergency braking situation. The system will register that there has been a rapid release of the throttle and prime the brakes to provide the shortest possible stopping distance.
5. Active Blindspot Assist
Active Blindspot Assist takes blind spot monitoring to the next level by taking control of the steering and alerting the driver to the danger when the notification has been ignored. This will help prevent accidents that are caused by vehicles in your blind spot when attempting to switch lanes.
