The Mercedes-AMG G-Class, colloquially called the G-Wagon (Geländewagen) was first produced as a military vehicle in the 1970s with the W460 passenger vehicle models sold from 1979 until 1990 in various body styles with a variety of engine and transmission options.

In 1990, the G-Class was extensively revised and is known as the W463 thanks to an increased emphasis on luxury and performance while the W461 then became the military version of the vehicle. The second iteration of the W463 model was released in 2018 and is the current G-Class generation, built by Magna Steyr in Austria.

The current AMG G63 model is a collection of impressive and intimidating numbers, with 430kW and 850Nm of torque from a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8, a kerb weight of 2 560 kg and ground clearance of 270mm in a vehicle nearly 2.0-metres tall and wide while measuring 4.88-metres long. Here are 7 accessories worth fitting on your new G-Class.

1.Special colours-R53 610

The G manufaktur paint range from Mercedes offers a variety of colour options with varying finishes and pricing, however, we are smitten with the Monza grey hue, however, we invite you to go onto the online configurator and select your favourite.

2.22-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels- R43 300

There are multiple wheel options within the G-Class range, and we have chosen a set of black 22-inch wheels that we feel suit the vehicle nicely.

3.AMG night Package Magno- R65 300

The Night Package Magno includes heat insulate glass, a black undercarriage protector, all removable parts painted black and a special AMG radiator grille trim.

4.Carbon fibre engine cover-R14 700

This lightweight cover offers added visual appeal to the potent 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 that lurks under the bonnet of the G63.

5.G manufaktur two-tone interior-R17 300

Unless you opt for the Nappa leather in one of the six standard colours, there are eleven G manufaktur two-tone options, six with contrasting topstitching, six other custom Nappa options and two in the so-called “Nappa zweifarbig” trim options. We have selected the two-tone option in black with an A-band in yacht blue.

6.AMG carbon fibre trim-R 67 200

There are many options for the G-Class interior, however, we find the full carbon fibre trim as the most appealing, offering a sporty look, befitting of a performance model.

7.Burmester surround sound- R25 200

The Burmester surround sound system provides a premium sound experience which is certainly a must-have in a vehicle that costs the better part of R4.0-million.
